Accra, 12th May 2025 – The Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee (IMCC) on Decentralisation, Dr. Gameli Kewuribe Hoedoafia, paid a working visit to the German Development House, where he met with the Head of Development Cooperation of the German Embassy, Miss Franziska Jebens; the Country Director of GIZ, Dr. Dirk Abmann; and the head of KfW Development Bank, Arndt Wierheim.
The visit forms part of the IMCC’s ongoing familiarisation and engagement efforts with key development partners, aimed at deepening cooperation and advancing Ghana’s decentralisation agenda.
Dr. Hoedoafia shared progress on Ghana’s decentralisation reforms and emphasised the importance of strong Development Partner collaboration in sustaining gains amidst global complexities and fiscal challenges.
The Head of Development Cooperation of the German Embassy, Miss Franziska Jebens commended the IMCC for its proactive approach and engagement with various development partners. “We are impressed with the IMCC, having shown good signs already, particularly the engagement with Development Partners and progress in the sector.”
She also added that while they are more than willing to support the Government of Ghana in its decentralisation reforms, especially in the area of revenue mobilisation, there is the need for strong government commitment and ownership. Therefore, they will be looking forward to seeing a renewed sense of commitment, coordinated leadership, new approaches to policy dialogue, and effective engagement of development partners for the achievement of mutual results.
Dr. Hoedoafia reaffirmed the Government of Ghana’s resolve under President John Dramani Mahama to prioritise decentralisation as a key driver of national development.
