What We Do

The IMCC Secretariat ensures the effective implementation of the decisions of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee by

  1. Closely collaborating with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and providing them with the requisite technical backstoppingg and financial support to implement key activities and various aspects of decentralisation reforms.
  2. Distilling, coordinating and preparing all technical reform issues for consideration by the IMCC
  3. Providing high-level support for coordination and monitoring, through technical backstopping to the Task Forces established by the IMCC
  4. Conducting research on initiatives for decentralisation reforms and
  5. Performing the technical monitoring and evaluation of the decentralisation reforms.

Since its establishment in 2012, the Secretariat has spearheaded and delivered on major inter-sectoral and technical issues that proved difficult for single sector ministers to traverse successfully.

The IMCC and its Secretariat has formulated and successfully implemented three National Decentralization Policies and Action Plans with the latest been the National Decentralization.

Policy and Strategy (2020-22024) and led on the enactment of relevant legislations for the local governance and decentralisation sector.

The IMCC Secretariat is committed to driving the implementation of the national decentralisation reforms as espoused by the NDPS 2020-2024 and thanks to the cooperation of our development partners, MDAs, CSOs, Traditional Authorities and MMDAS, we are able to deliver on our core mandate and will continue to work harder to accelerate the implementation of decentralisation reforms in Ghana
